- COMPOSITION:
Cinnarizin 25 mg in one tablet
ACTION:
Cinnarizin is a peripheral vasodilator with predominantly
cerebrovascular action. It blocks calcium influx into vascular
myocytes. It antagonizes the vasospastic effect of histamine,
serotonin, nicotine, angiotensin, bradykinin, epinephrine,
acetylcholine and other endogenous monoamines and oligopeptides.
Through metabolic pathways it enhances the content of carbon dioxide
in cerebral blood flow which has a vasolilating action. As a result
of these effects, cinnarizin enhances the cerebral blood flow,
cerebral blood volume and reduces the cerebrovascular resistance. it
decreases the excitability of vestibular apparatus.
PHARMACOKINETICS:
Cinnarizin is well absorbed in the stomach and intestines. The
maximum plasma levels are attained after 1 h, also in the liver,
kidneys, heart, lungs, spleen and brain. The metabolization begins
after 30 min. It is excreted up to 60% with the feces, the rest
being excreted with thew urine within about 5 h.
- INDICATIONS:
Ischemic disorders of cerebral blood circulation, associated
with cerebral atherosclerosis (headache, tinnitus, memory
impairment, concentration of attention, etc.). Migraine,
disturbances of peripheral blood circulation - Raynaud's
disease, acrocyanosis; paresthesia, etc. vestibular disorders-
Meniere syndrome, nystagmus, nausea, etc.

CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Somnolent patients and patients with marked hypotension.
SIDE EFFECTS:
Rarely - sleepiness, gastrointestinal disturbances, dryness in the
mouth, nausea, aggravation of existing hypotension. In a very
long-term therapy it may induce disorders in the peripheral nervous
system and appearance of extrapyramidal symptomatics.
PRECAUTIONS:
The drug is administered in reduced doses to patients with marked
hypotension.
DRUG INTERACTIONS:
It potentiates the effects of nootropic and antihypertensive drugs.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:
The treatment course lasts from several weeks to several months. The
treatment is initiated with a dose of 25 mg, 2 to 3 times daily,
reaching up to 50 mg, 3 times daily, or 75 mg 2 times daily after
meals.
MEDICINAL FORM AND PACKAGE:
Packages of 50 tablets.
STORAGE:
At moderate temperature (15-30 C).
EXPIRY:
