EB0280-410-13 LYDOL AMPOULE 2% 10 ML

COMPOSITION:
Pethidine hydrochloride 2 % - 10 ml in one ampoule.

ACTION:
A synthetic narcotic of the piperidine group, analogous in chemical structure to a part of themorphine molecule. Lydol is a strong analgesic drug, its effect is shorterlived and weaker than that of morphine. Its spasmolytic effect results from direct myotropic and cholinolytic action which makes it very suitable for pains of a spastic nature. Repeated application leads to addiction and drug-dependence.

PHARMACOKINETICS:
Lydol is well absorbed after oral and parenteral administration. Its analgesic effect is manifested about 15 min after oral administration and 10 min after parenteral application. The maximum effect comes about 2 h after its oral administration and 1 h after parenteral application.

INDICATIONS:
Pains with spasms in smooth-muscle organs (intestinal, biliary and renal colics), angina pectoris, migraine, headache. Postoperative pains and pains caused by cancer metastases, ischias, neuralgia, neuritis, traumatic encephalopathy, epidemic encephalis, hiccup, cough, as well as for potentiation of narcosis.

SIDE EFFECTS:
Dizziness, stupor, vomiting, xerostomia, collapse, headache, perspiration, facial edema, urticaria. The preparation may provoke spasms in the upper part of the gastrointestinal tract.

DRUG INTERACTIOONS:
Lydol increases the toxicity of anticholinergic substances of glucocorticoids, the antidepressive drugs; the central inhibitory action of barbiturates, phenothiazines and tricyclic depressants is enhanced. The effect of Lydol is reduced by buprenorphine.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:
Subcutaneously and intramuscularly - 1/2 to 1 ampoule, 1 to 3 times daily. In acute and violent pains - an intravenous application is possible (injected very slowly - for 2-3 min) in a dose of 0.25-1.00 ml of injection solution of lydol, diluted in 10 % solution of glucose or saline.

MEDICINAL FORM AND PACKAGE:
Ampoules of 10 ml (2 %) in packs of 10 and 50.
