COMPOSITION:
Cytisine 1.5 mg in one filmtablet
ACTION:
Tabex contains the alkaloid which has a similar mechanism of action
as nicotine but differs from it in its broad therapeutic index.
Cytisine has an N-cholinomimetic action and excites the vegetative
nerve ganglia, stimulates respiration predominantly through the
reflexes, induces epinephrine release from the medullar part of the
suprarenal gland. In higher doses it has an N-cholinolytic effect on
the vegetative ganglia. Cytisine plays the role of
nicotine-substituting substance, thus it reduces the period of
interaction of nicotine with the respective receptors. That, on its
part, leads to a gradual reduction and interruption of the existing
psychological addiction of smokers to nicotine. Tabex is easily
tolerated by the patients because it does not cause loss of
appetite, nausea, vomiting or any other undesired effects. The
treatment course is consistent with the gradual giving up of
smoking, thus avoiding abstinence phenomena.

Chronic nicotinism. |
