- COMPOSITION:
Etilefrine hydrochloride 0.75 % - 10 ml.
(1 ml = 7.5 mg)
ACTION:
A synthetic symptomatic drug with alpha-adrenomimetic action for
treatment and prophylaxis of sharp circulatory disturbances. Under
its influence the stroke volume and the minute volume of the heart
increase, the resistance of the peripheral vessels decreases, the
blood supply to the zone of the arterioles improves, the venous
pressure rises and the quantity of circulating blood increases as a
result of emptying of the blood depots. Cardiac action improves,
blood pressure rises more smoothly and for a longer time in
comparison with vasoton.
INDICATIONS:
Circulatory collapse in acute infectious diseases, intoxications,
operations, delivery, traumas.
Hypotension, orthostatic disregulation in chronic exhausting
diseases and during convalescence.
In some forms of vasomotor headache and tendency to orthostatic
collapse.
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Effortil should not be applied in hypertension, cardiac
decompensation and coronary insufficiency, acute nephritis,
thyreotoxicosis. |
DRUG INTERACTIONS:
The toxicity of Effortil increases when applied simultaneously with
amantadine, isoniazide, theophylline. Dihydrolasine and kithium
salts decrease the action of Effortil. Effortil reduces the action
of guantetidine, sulfanylurea antidiabetic drugs and metformine. The
cardiac rhythm is disturbed by simultaneous application of bretilium
and Effortil.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:
Orally: adults - 5-10 drops, 3-6 times daily;
Little children: 4-6 drops, 2-3 times daily;
Breast-fed babies - 2-5 drops, 2-3 times daily
under a physician's observation.
In severe cases the preparation can be applied parenterally:
subcutaneously and very rarely intramuscularly or intravenously
every 2 hours, several times a day. In children it is applied s.c.
every 4h, in breast-fed babies - 0.1-0.4 ml, children below 7 years
- 0.4-0.7 ml, children over 8 years - 0.7-1 ml.
MEDICINAL FORM AND PACKAGE:
0.75 % solution in vials of 10 ml.
STORAGE:
At temperature up to 20° C in a place protected from light.
EXPIRY:
3 (three) years.
