MASOLEK
OINTMENT 20 G |
 |
-
- COMPOSITION:
Salicylic acid 22 %, Yellow wax 15 %, Kreosote 6 %, Anhydrous
lanolin 38 %, Mineral jelly to 100 g.
ACTION:
Both salicylic acid and kreosote, topically applied in high
concentrations, have a keratolytic effect on the cutaneous layer of
the skin. The wax, lanolin and mineral jelly provide the proper
medium for the maximum manifestation of that effect. Kreosote also
has an antiseptic and the salicylic acid - a fungistatic effect.
INDICATIONS:
Hyperkeratoses - corns, warts, thickening of the skin, etc.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:
The area is well soaked in hot water, then properly dried and the
ointment is lavishly applied in abundance, avoiding its application
upon the intact skin. Covered with blotting paper and lightly
bandaged. This procedure is performed in the evening and the bandage
is removed on the following morning. The procedure is repeated on
3-4 successive evenings followed by soaking in hot water and
removing of the hyperkeratosis: the corn and the warts are pulled
out, the thickening of the skin is scraped off. In case the
treatment fails to give the expected results, it can be continued
for another couple of days. Soft and comfortable shoes must be worn
after the elimination of corns, so as to avoid the formation of a
new one within a short time. |
