COMPOSITION:
Oxyphenistati acetas 5 mg in one tablet.

ACTION:
A preparation with laxative action which is realized in the large bowel. The laxative effect of the preparation is due to the active metabolite obtained - dioxyphenylisatin which in the alkaline medium of the intestinal content stimulates the peristaltis of the large intestines and facilitates their emptying. The preparation does not influence gastric motility, because it is not dissolved in the stomach. The effect of the preparation comes 6-10 h after oral administration.

INDICATIONS:
Chronic constipation mainly of the large intestines, especially in pregnant women, operated patients, intestinal toxicosis and obesity. Isaphen may be applied as an auxiliary drug in the treatment of ascaridosis.

SIDE EFFECTS:
Prolonged application may result in habituation to the preparation and liver damage.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:
The preparation is administered orally to adults in a dose of 1-4 tablets in the evening. In more severe conditions the patients may take a dose at noon and a dose in the evening. The maximum effective dose for adults is 25 mg. The dose for children is ½ tablet, which may be increased to 1 tablet when there is no effect.

MEDICINAL FORM AND PACKAGE:
Tablets of 5 mg in packs of 20.

STORAGE:
At moderate temperature (15-30° C).

EXPIRY:
3 (three) years.
