- COMPOSITION:
Pure narcotine - 250 mg
Ephedrine hydrochloride - 80 mg
Tartaric acid - 32 mg
Lactic acid - 624 mg
Sirupus simplex ad 100 g
ACTION:
The combined preparation Noscapin calms the cough center and has
almost no influence on the respiration center. It has a marked
bronchodilating action, without narcotic effect. These properties of
the preparation are due to one of its ingredients - the alkaloid
nicotin, which possesses papaverine-like and codeine-like action.
The other ingredient - ephedrine - also has a bronchodilating and
vasoconstrictive action, leading to decrease of edema of the
bronchial mucosa and increase of AP. Noscapin does not lead to
habituation, even after prolonged administration.
INDICATIONS:
Cough of spastic character - whooping cough, asthmatic bronchitis,
chronic bronchitis, bronchial asthma.
For preparation of the patient for bronchoscopy and bronchography.
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Patients with hypertension, stenocardia, cardiac insufficiency,
atherosclerosis. The preparation should not be applied during the
first 3 months of pregnancy. |
SIDE EFFECTS:
Constipation may be very rarely observed in predisposed patients.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:
Orally:
- adults - 1-2 teaspoonfuls, 3-4 times daily.
- children aged from 5 to 14 years - 1/2 teaspoonful, 3-4 times
daily.
- children over 14 years - 1 teaspoonful, 3-4 times daily.
MEDICINAL FORM AND PACKAGE:
Syrup in bottle of 125 ml.
STORAGE:
At moderate temperature (15-30° C) in a place protected from light.
EXPIRY:
2 (two) years.
