- COMPOSITION:
Naphazoline - 0.1 %
Boric acid - 0.5 %
Sodium tetraborate - 0.1 %
Glycerin - 1 %
Thiomerzal - 0.01 %
ACTION:
Naphazoline is an imidazol derivative with direct, mainly
alphadrenomimetic action. Applied locally, it provokes constriction
of the peripheral blood vessels and decreases the edema of the
inflamed mucosa. Compared to adrenaline, it exercises a considerably
more prolonged vasoconstructive effect. Its action lasts about 2 h
after local application.
INDICATIONS:
Acute and chronic rhinitis, rhinosinusitis, laryngitis, and
epistaxis.
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Hypersensitivity to imidazol derivatives; infants aged below 6
months.
SIDE EFFECTS:
By a prolonged application the preparation may lead to increased
edema of the nasal mucosa and necrotic damage. |
