Thiomerzal - 0.01 %

ACTION:
Naphazoline is an imidazol derivative with direct, mainly alphadrenomimetic action. CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Hypersensitivity to imidazol derivatives; infants aged below 6 months.

SIDE EFFECTS:
By a prolonged application the preparation may lead to increased edema of the nasal mucosa and necrotic damage.

PRECAUTIONS:
Naphazoline should not be applied for more than 5 consecutive days because of possible tachyphylaxis to the preparation or mucous damage.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:
The preparation is applied locally to adults in a dose of 2-6 drops into each nostril every 6-8 h.
Children - 1-2 drops every 6-8 h.
Babies - naphazoline is dilited with water in a 1:1 or 1:2 ratio - 1-2 drops from the solution obtained into the nostrils every 12 h.
In case of epistaxis, a tompon soaked with Naphazoline solution is inserted into the nose for 2-5 min.
